Recovery of Emblematic Tango Sheet Music
In Tango Sin Fin we noticed that one of the main difficulties musicians from Argentina and from all around the world face when playing tango music is getting professionally published and edited tango sheet music of emblematic tunes. This has to do, partially, with the fact that after the “golden era” of tango music, in which the commercialization of sheet music and orchestral arrangements was an established practice, the professional edition and publishing of music had no commercial value anymore and the spread of these works ceased.
As a non-profit organization we carry out several projects dedicated to the edition and publishing of music, including the Método de Tango book series, the first one entirely dedicated to teaching tango music, and the edition and publishing of free sheet music albums and Argentine music handbooks in PDF format, authored by some of the most renowned musicians of today.
For the publishing of these last project we had to go through several legal obstacles, and after several years of meetings and presentations we were able to get our project Declared of Cultural Interest by the Buenos Aires City Government and supported by SADAIC, the Argentine association in charge of administering musicians’ intellectual property. This allowed us to proceed with this important project of RECOVERY OF EMBLEMATIC TANGO SHEET MUSIC to be widely spread around the world.
With this project we don’t only become able to edit and publish high quality materials with a clear and academic notation which can be distributed freely around the world, but we are also able to support the most remarkable musicians of contemporary tango by commissioning arrangements, transcriptions and the recovery of famous orchestration of these emblematic works. These materials, which are edited with a clear and academic notation, are fundamental tools for the education of musicians from all around the world who want to play tango and allow them to improve their instrumental abilities and their knowledge of the repertoire.
TANGO SIN FIN
We need your support
More than 4000 musicians from all around the world have already downloaded our first releases in just two months, proving that there was a need and and urgency for this historic recovery. Argentina is currently going through the worst economic crisis in 20 years and the arts and education sector are affected by this recession at a worrying level. The strategies to receive funding for the development of projects which don’t have a commercial purpose are almost non-existent.
It is our desire to continue developing this project which will benefit thousands of music students, professionals and amateurs from all around the world. This is why we need your help.
Thanks to your support, we’re able to perform:
- Legal processing to receive a formal authorization to freely distribute these works to be spread internationally.
- Commission of arrangements, transcriptions and recovery of emblematic orchestrations to renowned Argentine tango musicians.
- Professional musical and editorial revision of the sheet music.
- Layout design for publishing and downloading.
- Selection and publishing of audio recordings of the selected works.
